WIN RONNIE CORBETT

WIN RONNIE CORBETT SIGNED SHIRT FROM JONATHAN ROSS SHOW

“Just seen the Ross thing for the 1st time (saturday night repeat), pretty raw and exciting stuff even if I say so meself.... but thats basically what we have over the other groops innit? You want controlled perfection - get a sodding boy band.

We tried to get 'em to accept a song from Grave Disorder but this was specifically a 'punk jubilee' thing so it was New Rose or no appearance.

I'm glad we did it though and the whole evening was fantastic fun, especially meeting Ronnie Corbett funnily enough as, many years ago when I was a schoolboy at Stanley Tech I recall on more than one occasion the aforementioned funny man was spotted driving past the school on his way to his home to the more upmarket South Croydon area.

And one particular episode when as his car was waiting at the traffic lights and he was spied peering up over the steering wheel through those famous heavy framed specs of his yours truly and a bunch of me classmates decided to give him a bit of good natured Croydon abuse for a couple of minutes or so which he appeared unfortunately not to have heard as there was no reaction.

But evidently he had for as the lights changed to green and his vehicle edged forward without moving his head in the slightest the tell tale two fingers were raised towards us and he was gone.

What a hero eh, and we shared a bottle or two of the BBCs finest red plonk as we chatted about that incident, Croydon (and its excellent new tram system which has given it a marvellously hip European vibe) and Crystal Palaces prospects for next footie season... or lack of 'em. A luvverly bloke and no mistake!

Actually, I swagged a Ronnie Corbett t-shirt from one of the '4 poofs' (the house band) and got it signed by Mr C so (instant competition time) the 1st person who can get me some of 70's jazz rock combo 'IF's music copied over on CD or minidisk (not bothered which) can have this marvellous trophy <thats a trifle obscure Mr S - Mark Orbit>

See ya later on the tour ya swabs” - Cap
