DAMNED IN JAPAN & CALIFORNIA 2004

Wow - Wot a fabulous time we had in Japan and California... the gigs were great and we met some luvverly people - including some familiar faces who had excelled themselves by staying sober long enough to enable them to travel vast distances to see their old chums.

Steve from Wisconcin was at some shows of course (when is he not?) alongside the irrepressible Wayne, Rika Duck (quack quack), Dana Erin and April from Pittsburg, the notorious Kray brothers, Phannie Tasmagoria, Mr Tamari the guitar maker, Yuko the 70s rock chick, Kary Collison and a buncha smashing birds come down from San Francisco amongst others. I'm sorry if I missed ya out, gawdblessya and all that.

Some of ya's have made up interesting CDs for our listening pleasure for which we are VERY grateful and there was even a naughty DVD amongst them (only one ya tightwads.... we aint cleaning up our act JUST yet...)

High point of the trip for me was Wayne Kramer jamming with us in LA, what a treat... thats another lifes ambition fulfilled. What a nice chap he is too playmates. Well, unlike Lemmy at least theres SOME booze left when he's departed the dressing room!

That wasnt all - DV sang with the MC5 in Osaka while I danced onstage with the Go Gos with my new friend Peaches - the extravagant singer bird. Somehow we got away with it.

Oh, and in Tokyo I met Ms Nishimatsu... a charming lady who has a wonderful Damned / Sensible website going on at http://www.geocities.co.jp/MusicStar-Guitar/1000/CaptainSensible/

check out the AMAZING animation there that she designed herself. Thank you madam!

Oh yeah, we were lucky to have some great support acts too.... the 'Lectric Chairs kicked up quite an old school punk whirlwind while Deadbolt kicked up a whirlwind of a different kind.... ladies and gents out there, never has ANYONE been so rude to our audience - well, excepting us of course. They just didnt care..... it was fantastic stuff! Blimey, me and Sweetcorn (long suffering roadie) even jammed with THEM too. There was also a spunky bunch of punksters on in Annaheim too who deserve a mention but I was too busy hanging around the bar blagging drinks to catch their name - BELCH!

What with all the airfares, hotels, crew , massage parlours and all that - by the time we'd been shopping down Melrose ave and Frys (is that place gadget heaven or wot?) we were close to brassic but I can assure you a bloody good time was had by all. Even Monty... he only threw ONE wobbler - when his keyboards fell over in San Diego.

All in all a superb little jaunt - cheers one and all!

Cap'n S.

PS - thanx to david at www.davidjiro.com for the live snaps and making me look all cute and that, although it has to be said that that was probably the last appearance of Susie Lollipop (onstage anyway) as she was starting to take me over! The colour pic is ya chums with Mr Butchy and the lovely Rika Duck.... Steve from Wisconcin can be seen singing 'Jet Boy' with us somewhere in Californiaaaarrrgggghhhhh..... please - shut him up somebody!
