I
have seen THE DAMNED over 20 times and this gig was a bit disappointing, they
seemed a bit low key and subdued (though it was mentioned that Dave
had been unwell).
That said they are still punk gods in my eyes and can't wait to see
them again! The new single (Little Miss Disaster) is excellent. The
support act (Wreckless Eric) was the worst support I have ever
heard unlike the support at Bradford Rio's earlier in the year (The
Priscillas) who were the best. PUNKS NOT DEAD.....
T.D. WAKEFIELD...
A
shame about The Weirdo's having to go back home to the states, was
looking forward to seeing them live, but next time maybe.
I'd never heard much of Wreckless Eric, so I was a bit apprehensive
of what to expect, but the 'old guy' gave it a shot in front of what
became a very non interested crowd, although they seemed to be few
Eric fans around me at the front, but the constant banter from others
got to him a bit, but he came across well enough to earn some warm
appreciation.
This is the 2nd time i've seen 'The Damned' at the Irish Centre in
Leeds, not a bad venue at all, plenty of room for all and decent service
at the bar. The gig was not their best of the last 25 years that I've
been to see them, with the great Mr V sounding a liitle under the
weather, and not quite commanding the stage as he usually does. This
is the first time I've also heard Stu playing at a gig, he did himself
proud sounding very good indeed, (P had better watch her back). Captain
was his usual self (twat.......:0).......lol ), Pinch and Monty, well
what can you say about these guys, except another excellent performance
guys, bought some goodies from the merch stall (plenty of choice),oh
.......and what was 'the chicken' all about...........all in all quite
a pleasent evening in the presence of The Damned had by all, back to
the car for the journey home (if i could just find the rest of the
boys..........)
rgrds.................
