BRIGHTON - CONCORDE II
Monday 18th December 2006

Hi Guys,

I have been a fan of yours since about 1985 (16 yrs of age onwards) and first saw you at the Finsbury Park 10th Anniversary Tea Party (the Phantasmagoria line up). What a gig that was. The band even signed my programme that I have intact to this day.

Since then I have seen you live countless times (mainly in my home town of Brighton) and I have to say guys, you really are bloody good still. Dave is in shape and sings as good as ever, the Captain (whom I have spoken to at the bar) plays the geetar like a true legend and the new teamsters are a worthy addition, what with Monty's beautiful keyboard arrangements (takes me back to Curtain Call stylee and Trojans), Stu's chugging bass and Pinch's banging drums.

When you spoke about the old days of punk and asking for some civility I totally understand. I don't think it is an age thing even. It is about respect, you pay money to hear the music you grew up to and love, not to spit or throw bottles at the band. I never got the punk violence, I love the music and the clothes/image, but not the mindless acts of individuals.

Anyway, the recent gig was great as always. Met the Captains son, good lad. Hearing songs like Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde live was a dream come true. I never thought I would ever hear that, or Jet Boy Jet Girl. All I need to hear next time is Silly Kids Games off The Black Album, Gun Fury and The Dog off Strawberries and I would have died and gone to heaven.

Well done chaps, you've still got it and christ you were and are so much better than the Pistols.

Keep on Truckin.

Dave

Smashing gig as always guys. Marvellous to hear songs played that I've only heard on albums before. Dave looked slightly more annoyed with Cap than usual but I expect it was all part of the show. Anyhow, here is my poem:

Captain please mate,
Dye your hair,
You won't look like a lady.
'Cos if you don't,
you'll get mistook
for fucking Paul O'Grady!

(I would suggest Directions Daffodil Yellow).

Vote Blah!

Cheers
